Tennessee IPA showcases Black Abbey's modern interpretation of the classic American IPA, combining expressive hop character with outstanding balance and drinkability. Pouring a rich golden color beneath a creamy white head, the beer bursts with aromas of grapefruit, orange zest, tropical fruit, pine, and subtle floral notes. Bright citrus, ripe mango, and resinous hop flavors lead the palate, supported by a lightly toasted malt backbone that adds just enough sweetness to balance the moderate bitterness. The finish is crisp, clean, and pleasantly dry, inviting another sip. Pair this vibrant IPA with buffalo wings, smoked barbecue, spicy tacos, grilled burgers, sharp cheddar, or Thai-inspired cuisine to complement its bold hop profile.
Founded in 2013 by brothers Carl and Jason Meier, Black Abbey Brewing Company was built around a simple yet distinctive philosophy: "Brewing is our Protest." Inspired by the creativity and craftsmanship of the Protestant Reformation, the Nashville brewery strives to challenge convention while honoring traditional European brewing techniques. Rather than focusing solely on hop-forward American styles, Black Abbey has earned recognition for producing balanced, approachable beers influenced by English, Belgian, and German brewing traditions, all crafted with exceptional attention to quality and drinkability.
Located in the heart of Nashville, Black Abbey has become a cornerstone of Tennessee's thriving craft beer scene. The brewery is perhaps best known for blending Old World inspiration with modern American creativity, producing everything from crisp lagers to expressive IPAs and award-winning specialty ales. Their welcoming taproom and commitment to community have helped establish Black Abbey as one of Tennessee's most respected independent breweries.
