This double IPA from Roadhouse presents a bright golden color topped by a lasting cap of tight-bubbled foam. A swirl of the can part way through the pour adds considerable haze to this unfiltered brew. Expressive hop notes abound in the aroma. Look for a big fruity impact here: citruses evoking shades of grapefruit and orange, tropical fruits, touches of honeydew and gooseberry. There’s also some spicy, resinous, and even cannabinoid character here as well, making for an unsurprisingly complex profile given the six different hop varieties, including Roadhouse’s use of distilled hop oils. On the palate, The Prophet is a unique beast. It simultaneously offers a creamy and slick impression while also feeling nimble and sprightly. This may be the most attenuated double IPA we’ve ever sampled (for all the beer geeks out there: 17.5° Plato OG; -1.0° Plato FG), as virtually all of the original sugars have been fermented out or broken down by enzymatic action, providing a big alcohol contribution to the finished beer and leading to a very dry brut-style IPA character. Tons of hop character comes through on the palate too, but the bitterness level remains fairly low, as with most hazy-style IPAs. Super drinkable, yet with a creaminess that keeps it super satisfying on the palate, this is an easy brew to drink too much of too fast, so take your time! For pairing options, we’re thinking Mexican dishes paired with mango or other tropical salsas and plenty of cheese, as the big ABV can cut through fattier fare. Sausage, pepperoni, or even pineapple (gasp!) pizzas sound good too. Cheers!

Roadhouse Brewing Company was founded in 2012 by award-winning homebrewer Colby Cox and noted restaurateur Gavin Fine. Originally from Delaware, Colby's first foray into brewing came working on the bottling line at Dogfish Head, and by 2007 he had begun brewing at home. After deciding it was time to expand his homebrewing into something more commercial, he teamed up with Gavin who was eager to partner. The duo's shared vision was to create exceptional craft beer and build a brewpub boasting synergy between beer and cuisine, with each complementing the other. To that end, they cleared out the billiard room to make way for brewing equipment at Gavin's Q Roadhouse, which formed the foundation for Roadhouse Brewing Company.

In the summer of 2017, Roadhouse expanded their brewing operations into a new state-of-the-art facility featuring a 30-barrel brewing system and the ability to package their beer for retail sales throughout Wyoming and beyond. Not long after, Roadhouse opened an experimental gastropub and brewery in Jackson Hole's historic Town Square. With distribution focused in Wyoming and nearby mountain states, Roadhouse currently produces six year-round brews plus many seasonals and collaborations. Additionally, they've been awarded B Corporation Certification for their social and environmental initiatives, including support for the Teton County Search and Rescue Organization, the use of heat recapture and solar power, and the provision of spent grain to a local family farm. We're happy to have partnered with Roadhouse this month, and they are excited for our members to try their beers. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did, and as much as the Roadhouse crew enjoyed making them! For more info, visit them at roadhousebrewery.com.
