Named in honor of the historic completion of America's first transcontinental railroad at Promontory Summit, Utah, Golden Spike is Uinta's refreshing interpretation of a traditional Hefeweizen. Pouring a hazy golden color beneath a soft white head, this unfiltered wheat beer offers inviting aromas of fresh wheat bread, orange zest, and lemon peel. Gentle honey-like malt sweetness mingles with delicate yeast-derived spice, creating a bright, aromatic presentation that remains faithful to the approachable character of the style. On the palate, expect a smooth, medium-bodied beer with flavors of citrus, fresh wheat, and a subtle hint of banana. Wheat and Munich malts provide a soft, rounded foundation, while Cascade hops contribute a light balancing bitterness without overwhelming the delicate wheat and yeast character. At 5% ABV and just 17 IBUs, Golden Spike is particularly refreshing and easy to enjoy. For food pairings, we'd suggest grilled chicken, fish tacos, citrus-marinated shrimp, fresh salads, or mild cheeses. Its lively carbonation and bright citrus notes also make it a natural partner for brunch dishes and lighter summertime fare. Prost!

Uinta Brewing Company was established in Salt Lake City in 1993, during the early years of America's modern craft brewing movement. Named after Utah's Uinta Mountains, one of the few major mountain ranges in the contiguous United States that runs predominantly east to west, the brewery developed an identity closely connected to the state's rugged landscapes and outdoor recreation. From its beginnings, Uinta focused on producing flavorful, approachable craft beers while embracing a spirit of independence and exploration.

As Utah's craft beer industry grew, Uinta expanded its brewing capabilities and developed an increasingly diverse portfolio of ales and lagers. The brewery became particularly well known for its commitment to environmental responsibility. In 2001, Uinta became the first company in Utah to operate using renewable energy sources, establishing sustainability as an important part of its business philosophy. Its environmental initiatives have complemented a brewing approach that combines traditional techniques with modern ingredients and innovation.

Over the years, Uinta has earned recognition for beers ranging from crisp pilsners and hop-forward ales to rich seasonal specialties. Its portfolio includes longtime favorites such as Cutthroat Pale Ale, 801 Pilsner, and Yard Sale Winter Lager. Today, Uinta continues to draw inspiration from Utah's mountains and outdoor lifestyle, producing beers intended to be enjoyed after everything from a day on the ski slopes to an afternoon exploring the trails.
