Named as a tribute to the spirit of Oktoberfest celebrations, DankeChain Oktoberfest is West Sixth's interpretation of the classic Märzen lager. Deep golden to light amber in the glass with exceptional clarity, it is crowned by a dense white head that releases aromas of freshly baked bread, toasted biscuit, light caramel, and delicate floral spice. Traditional German noble hops provide gentle herbal notes that perfectly complement the rich malt character. Smooth and elegantly balanced, the palate showcases layers of Munich malt richness with flavors of toasted bread crust, light honey, biscuit, and subtle caramel. Melanoidin and CaraMunich malts contribute depth without becoming sweet, while restrained bitterness from Magnum and Hallertau hops creates a clean, crisp finish that invites another sip. Rich enough for cool autumn evenings yet refreshing enough to enjoy year-round, DankeChain pairs beautifully with bratwurst, roasted pork, schnitzel, grilled chicken, soft pretzels, Gouda, and traditional Oktoberfest fare.
Founded in 2012, West Sixth Brewing Company helped usher in a new era of Kentucky craft beer by transforming the historic West Sixth Street Bread Box building in Lexington into a vibrant community brewery. Named after the street it calls home, West Sixth quickly earned a reputation for brewing approachable, high-quality beers while fostering a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, charitable giving, and neighborhood revitalization. From its earliest days, the brewery has embraced the philosophy that great beer can help build stronger communities, donating a portion of its sales to nonprofit organizations through its Sixth for a Cause program.
While Kentucky is often associated with bourbon, West Sixth has become one of the state's flagship craft breweries by producing a diverse lineup of award-winning beers that showcase both classic brewing traditions and modern American innovation. Whether crafting crisp lagers, hop-forward IPAs, rich stouts, or seasonal specialties, the brewery emphasizes balance, drinkability, and quality ingredients. Today, West Sixth continues to expand its reach while remaining proudly independent, welcoming visitors to its Lexington brewery, farm, and taprooms throughout the Bluegrass State.
