Yazoo Hopry Hazy IPA is a juicy, hop-forward beer that delivers bold flavor with a smooth, hazy profile. It pours a hazy golden-orange color with a dense white head. Aromas of tropical fruit, citrus, and stone fruit dominate, driven by a blend of Galaxy, Citra, and Amarillo hops. On the palate, the beer is medium-bodied with a soft, pillowy mouthfeel, thanks to the inclusion of wheat and oats. Flavors of mango, orange, and peach come forward, supported by a gentle sweetness and low perceived bitterness. Despite its hop intensity, the beer remains balanced and approachable, with a smooth, rounded finish. The haze and texture enhance the juicy character, making it a modern IPA designed for easy enjoyment. It pairs well with spicy foods, fried dishes, or burgers, where its fruit-forward profile complements bold flavors.
Founded in 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee, Yazoo Brewing Company is one of the pioneers of the modern craft beer movement in the Southeast. Established by British-born brewer Linus Hall, the brewery began with a simple goal: to bring fresh, locally made beer to a region that at the time had limited craft options. Drawing on traditional European brewing influences as well as emerging American styles, Yazoo quickly built a reputation for producing balanced, approachable beers with a strong sense of place.
In its early years, Yazoo operated out of a small facility in downtown Nashville’s Marathon Village, where it developed a loyal local following. As demand grew, the brewery expanded its production capacity and distribution footprint, becoming one of the most recognizable craft brands in Tennessee. In 2016, Yazoo opened a new, larger brewery in Nashville’s Gulch area, allowing for continued growth while maintaining its commitment to quality and consistency.
Yazoo has also played a significant role in shaping the regional beer scene, helping to establish craft beer culture in Nashville and throughout the state. The brewery is known for a diverse lineup that includes classic styles like pale ale and hefeweizen, as well as more experimental offerings produced under its “Embrace the Funk” program, which focuses on wild and mixed-fermentation beers.
Today, Yazoo Brewing Company remains independently operated and deeply connected to its community. By combining traditional brewing techniques with a willingness to innovate, Yazoo continues to produce beers that reflect both its local roots and its broader brewing influences, maintaining its position as a key contributor to the growth of craft beer in the Southeast.
