This 2012 GABF Silver medal winner is brewed in the vein of a Northern German pilsner, and was named after Brad and Gabriel’s family dog, Hans, a German Shorthair Pointer. We’re greeted by a brilliantly clear pale straw color in the glass, topped with a tight, white frothy head that lingers and leaves fine lacing. Look for the aroma to come through as delicate yet expressive, underpinned by crackery pilsner malt with floral and spicy noble hop...

Pouring a deep, mahogany-like, reddish-brown hue capped by a light tan head, Ringneck looks good in our glasses as we move in for a sniff. Named in honor of a famous species of duck that calls Minnesota home, this brew started life as a fall seasonal before being elevated to year-round due to popular demand. On the nose, we picked up quite an inviting malt profile offering notes of toast, brown bread, mild roast, moderate caramelization...

Real Ale’s Swifty Pale Ale pours a slightly hazy bright golden hue with a creamy off-white head that persists nicely. On the nose, we picked up bright and vibrant citrus notes of orange, mandarin, and hints of grapefruit, plus a very mild touch of stone fruit mingled with subtle pine and floral undertones. A hint of caramel and biscuit from the malt provides some grounding warmth. On the palate, Swifty delivers a bright wave of citrus-forward...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz

- Suggested Glassware: Snifter, Tulip, Thistle Glass

- Malts: Golden Promise, Peat Smoked, Crystal, Munich, Cherry Wood Smoked
- Country: United States
Our Scottish Gaelic is a little rusty, but we’re told Bancreagie is pronounced “bon-cray-gee” and means “valley of the white rock” – in honor of a granite aquifer beneath the brewery. Not all Scotch Ales are made with peat-smoked malt but, traditionally, many of them are. The same technique leads to the distinctively smoky character of Islay Scotch, and this is what Brau Brothers were going for with Bancreagie. We’re excited to have encountered a good American version...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: American IPA
- ABV: 7.1%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 60
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Tulip, Pint Glass
- Hops: undisclosed
- Malts: Rahr Premium Pils, Simpsons Caramalt
- Country: United States
Axis IPA is named after the axis deer of South Asia, evoking an offering more exotic than the commonplace IPAs on the market. We get a clear golden-orange hue on the pour, with a dense white head that lingers and drops streaks of lacing as it recedes. The aroma leaps forward with pungent notes of grapefruit zest, resinous pine, white grape juice, and ripe tropical fruits conjuring mango and papaya, balanced by subtle hints of malt sweetness...
- Bottle Size: 12-oz
- Style: New England-style Hazy IPA
- ABV: 6.6%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 40
- Serving Temperature: 45-50º F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Pint Glass, Mug
- Hops: Columbus, Amarillo, Cascade, Comet, Azacca, Mosaic, Strata
- Malts: 2-Row, Caramalt, Carafoam, White Wheat
- Country: United States
Originally a draft-only release, this hazy IPA proved so popular that Real Ale upgraded it to a year-round packaged offering, and we can see why. This brew is dry-hopped extensively, with multiple hop varieties added at multiple times during fermentation, making for quite the juicy brew. The beer presents a light gold color with a thick, hazy body and a billowy white head that leaves some creamy lace on the glass. On the nose, look for an...

- ABV: 6.8%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 70

- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Pint Glass, or Mug
- Hops: Centennial, El Dorado, Cascade
- Malts: Vienna, Pale, Carafoam, Caramalt, Acidulated
- Country: United States
Named after iconic maple trees at the Brau Brothers brewery, and representing the brewery’s first true IPA they have ever bottled, 3 Trees presents a lightly hazy copper-amber color with a head of off-white foam as it rests in our glass. On the nose, look for this IPA to present prominent tropical and citrus aromas conjuring notes of juicy mango, candied orange, and grapefruit zest alongside hints of stone fruits and some perfumed floral and...
- Bottle Size: 330-ml
- Style: Helles Lager
- ABV: 5.3%
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass, Flute
- Country: Germany
Pouring a bright golden straw color with crystal clarity and a vibrant cap of foam, this helles lager offers up an inviting aroma. We picked up plenty of pale malt character offering fresh baked bread and crackery notes, topped by floral and lightly fruity hops with touches of spice and earth. For us, the hops and malts come together to conjure a sort of mild tree fruit impression. On the palate, look for the malt profile to come through fairly...
- Bottle Size: 330-ml
- Style: Doppelbock
- ABV: 7.2%
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: Tulip, Snifter
- Country: Germany
This doppelbock is the guest of honor at a yearly festival where Arcobräu publicly taps the beer to the delight of the people of Moos and surrounding parts of Bavaria. Pouring a reddish coppery brown with beautiful clarity and a head of light beige foam, this brew follows up with an engaging aroma right off the bat. Look for a complex array of malty caramelization, toasty bread, hints of toffee and brown sugar, touches of hoppy spice, and an...
- Bottle Size: 750-ml
- Style: Wine Hybrid Wild Ale w/ Grenache Grapes
- ABV: 11.0%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 12
- Serving Temperature: 50-55° F
- Suggested Glassware: Teku, Tulip, Flute, Wine Glass
- Hops: Aged Lambic Blend
- Malts: 2-Row, Wheat Malt
- Country: United States
Onirique, which translates as “dreamlike”, undergoes a triple fermentation during its 2 ½ year production process. First, the beer spends time in Idyll Forest’s coolship, undergoing natural inoculation from the ambient Minnesota air, after which it rests in their foeders to develop flavor and character. Next, a second fermentation is conducted, during which they blend a combination of foeders and wine barrels with Grenache grape must. Finally, it...
- Bottle Size: 16-oz
- Style: Quadruple Hazy IPA
- ABV: 10.4%
- Int’l Bittering Units (IBUs): 45
- Serving Temperature: 45-50° F
- Suggested Glassware: IPA Glass, Tulip, Snifter, Teku
- Hops: Citra, Hallertau Blanc, Mosaic, Simcoe, Sabro
- Malts: Malted Oats, Unmalted Wheat, War Horse 2-Row
- Country: United States
On the pour, we’re greeted with a super hazy golden brew topped with a massive fluffy off-white head that displays remarkable retention before dropping to a persistent collar, aided by the nucleation etching of our Duvel tulip. On the nose, this brew is one of those very aromatic IPAs that offers something new with each sniff. Citrus is certainly apparent here – both the sweet juice and the sharper zest – in the guise of orange...
