Pottstown, PA – Sly Fox Bock Fest & Goat Race

“The Sly Fox Bock Festival & Goat Race is held on the first Sunday of May every year, rain or shine. It has become one of the Philadelphia region’s favorite beer-focused celebrations, drawing crowds estimated in the 2,500 to 3,000 range to the Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery in Phoenixville for over a decade, before relocating to the Sly Fox production brewery grounds in Pottstown for 2015.

A German menu is offered to complement what might be the largest offering of bock-style beers by any brewery in the United States at one time. Brewmaster Brian O’Reilly and his crew produce a mouth-watering lineup: Slacker Bock, Helles Bock, Instigator Doppelbock, two Eisbocks (usually Slacker and Instigator) and a Maibock. The day marks the release of the Maibock which is tapped immediately after the race and named in honor of the winner.

For the first time in Bock Fest history, this year’s festival will take place at the Sly Fox Brewery in Pottstown. A wide open, grassy field neighboring the 30,000 square foot facility will be the new site for the running of the ruminants and plenty of festival fun. Live German Oompah music will be playing from a stage and coverage of the Goat Races will be playing live on a jumbotron. Afterwards, some of the goats and their owners mingle with the crowd, delighting the many children in attendance with their families.”

San Luis Obispo, CA – California Festival of Beers

“This year the California Festival of Beers will continue in its tradition of craft beers, live music, and sunshine. Each year the Festival draws a wider selection of beer, dining, entertainment and sponsors than years past, and this year is no exception. Beginning on Friday in Madonna Inn Expo, the Connoisseur Tasting “Arts and Drafts” will feature craft beer expertly paired with local cuisine. The event will also showcase local artists’ work and live entertainment. On Saturday, the Grand Tasting will take place in the Madonna Inn Meadows, a beautiful expanse of lawn nestled between parks, mountains, and hotels in San Luis Obispo, California.  The meadow is the perfect location to spend the day enjoying the Grand Tasting with more of your friends and grass between your toes.
